5 Things You May Not Know About a Collaborative Divorce

1. Voice Heard. With a collaborative divorce, each party has the ability to openly voice their wants and concerns. This allows for creating agreements that adhere to both parties' needs.

2. Emotional Well-Being. Parties are generally better able to cope and move on when they helped to create the resolution. This passes onto the little ones too.

3. Financial Security. On average, couples spend less when proceeding through a collaborative divorce instead of a litigated one. That translates to more money for each party to live off of once the divorce is final.

4. Confidentiality. Through attorney-client confidentiality, the parties do not have to worry about airing their dirty laundry, even if the parties decide to litigate later.

5. Not Uncontested! Although the name may give that impression, unfortunately a collaborative divorce does not mean it is uncontested and the parties agree on everything. Instead, it refers to the process of how the couples reach a resolution.
